The classical problem of the elastic half-space loaded on the boundary, for rectangular loading profiles with constant and linearly varying loads, is solved using the Hertz potentials. The reviewer remarks that more general solutions, for polygonal loading profiles and nonuniform loadings, are available in the literature (see, for example [\textit{A. I. Lurie}, Three-dimensional problems in the theory of elasticity, Moscow, 1955 (in Russian)]. The work contains also many type errors (see formulae (1), (28), etc.). Consequently, the paper can be considered as a minor contribution to the elasticity theory.
