    The authors prove the following result: Let \(\varphi(t)\) and \(\psi(t)\) be two positive increasing functions for \(t\geq 1\) such that \[ \int_1^\infty \frac{dt}{\varphi(t)}=\infty,\;\int_1^\infty \frac{dt}{t\psi(t)}=\infty. \] Let \(f\) be a non-constant meromorphic function in \(\mathbb{C}\) such that \[ M=\limsup_{r\to\infty}\int_1^{T(r,f)} \frac{dt}{t\psi(t)}/\int_1^r \frac{dt}{\varphi(t)}<\infty \] and let \(a_1,...,a_q(q\geq 1)\) be a finite set of distinct points in \(\mathbb{C}\cup\{\infty\}\). Then the Nevanlinna functions satisfy \[ (q-2)T(r,f)\leq \sum_{j=1}^qN\left(r,\frac{1}{f-a_j}\right) -N_{\text{ Ram}}(r,f) +\log \frac{T(r,f)\psi(T(r,f))}{\varphi(r)} +O(1) \] outside an exceptional set \(E\) of \(r\) which is independent of \(\{a_j\}\), where \[ \limsup_{r\to\infty}\int_{E\cap [1,r]}\frac{dt}{\varphi(t)}/\int_1^r\frac{dt}{\varphi(t)} \] can be arbitrarily small or equal to \(0\) according to whether \(M>0\) or \(M=0\). This result is closely related to the results due to \textit{Y. F. Wang} [J. Anal. Math. 71, 87-102 (1997; Zbl 0893.30018)] and \textit{Z. Ye} [Invent. Math. 122, 475-507 (1995; Zbl 0855.32002)].
