A certain family of summation-integral type operators (Q597416)

The authors introduce a general family of linear positive summation-integral type operators containing as particular cases the Phillips operators, see \textit{C. P. May} [J. Approximation Theory 20, 315--332 (1977; Zbl 0399.41021)], the operators considered by \textit{V. Gupta, M. K. Gupta} and \textit{V. Vasishtha} [Nonlinear Funct. Anal. Appl. 8, 399--412 (2003; Zbl 1059.41009)] and a slight modification of the operators investigated earlier by \textit{P. N. Agrawal} and \textit{K. J. Thamar} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 225, 660--672 (1998; Zbl 0918.41021)]. The rate of convergence is investigated by means of the decomposition technique for functions of bounded variation. The exact bound of Baskakov basis functions is also obtained.
