Constrained mountain pass algorithm for the numerical solution of semilinear elliptic problems (Q1882393)

The author presents a numerical algorithm for solving semilinear elliptic problems based on finding a variational formulation and critical points of a \(C^1\) functional subject to a constraint given by a level set of another \(C^1\) functional. He uses the constrained steepest descent method to find local minima and then uses the constrained mountain pass algorithm to locate a critical point of the mountain pass type.
