    Let \(G\) be a reductive real Lie group and let \(\theta\) be a Cartan involution of \(G\). Assume that \(G\) contains a parabolic subgroup \(P\) with a Levi subgroup \(L\) and a Levi decomposition \(P = LN\) such that { {(1)} \(P\) and its opposite parabolic \(\theta(P)\) are \(G\)-conjugate; {(2)} \(N\) is abelian and its Lie algebra \(\mathfrak{n}\) is identified with a simple non-Euclidean Jordan algebra; {(3)} \(L\) has only one open orbit in \(\mathfrak{n}\). } \noindent The author defines suitable functions \(\triangledown\) and \(\overline{\triangledown}\) on dense open subsets of \(\mathfrak{n}\) and \(\bar{\mathfrak{n}}\) respectively, where \(\overline{\mathfrak{n}}\) is the Lie algebra of \(\theta(N)\), so that tempered distributions \textbf{Z}, \(\overline{\mathbf Z}\) are given by the integrals \[ {\mathbf Z}(h,s) = \int_{\mathfrak{n}} h(X)\triangledown(X)^s\,dX \qquad (h \in \mathcal{S}(\mathfrak{n})) \] and \[ \overline{\mathbf Z}(f,s) = \int_{\overline{\mathfrak{n}}} f(X)\overline{\triangledown}(X)^s\,dX \qquad (f \in \mathcal{S}(\overline{\mathfrak{n}}))\,, \] where \(\mathcal{S}\) denotes a space of Schwartz functions. She proves that these integrals admit a meromorphic continuation to all of \textbf{C} and, by using boundary values of Poisson transforms, she obtains the functional equation \[ \overline{\mathbf Z}\left(\hat{f},s - \frac{m}{n}\right) = M_{X_n}(s){\mathbf Z}(f,-s) \qquad (s \in {\mathbf C}; f \in \mathcal{S}(\mathfrak{n})) \] relating \textbf{Z} and \(\overline{\mathbf Z}\), where \(\hat{f}\) is the Fourier transform of \(f\), \(m\) is the dimension and \(n\) the rank of \(\mathfrak{n}\), and \(M_{X_n}(s)\) is the constant occurring in the functional equation of Wallach's generalized Jacquet integrals [\textit{N. Wallach}, Adv. Stud. Pure Math. 14, 123 (1988; Zbl 0714.17016)].
