The author proves that elliptic travelling wave solutions of zero codimension cannot exist for either the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation or the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation. The method of proof is based on the residue theorem and allows one to determine necessary conditions for the existence of elliptic travelling waves for general autonomous partial differential equation.
