Sufficient conditions are given for the persistence (lim inf of all population densities as t tends to \(\infty\) are positive) for a system of two predators and one common prey in which one predator also preys on the other predator. A linearized analysis of all axes equilibria is given as well as the possible existence and stability of positive equilibria. These results extend in several directions earlier work of \textit{H. J. Freedman} and \textit{P. Waltman}, ibid. 33, 257-276 (1977; Zbl 0363.92022).
