This paper is connected with the papers by \textit{A. C. Peterson} [Proc. 12th Midwest Conf., Iowa City/Iowa 1983, 79-100 (1985; Zbl 0585.39001); J. Math. Anal. Appl. 125, 185-191 (1987; Zbl 0625.39002); ibid. 124, 127- 138 (1987; Zbl 0621.39001); SIAM J. Math. Anal. 15, 124-132 (1984; Zbl 0532.39001)], where various aspects related to disconjugacy in nth order difference equations were developed. The author gives necessary and sufficient conditions for left, right disconjugacy of the equation \(\sum^{n}_{i=0}\alpha_ i(t)y(t+i)=0,\) where \(\alpha_ n(t)\equiv 1\), \((-1)^ n\alpha_ 0(t)>0,\) \(t\in [a,b]\), in terms of sign conditions of some Wronskians. Moreover, he proves several relationships between right and left disconjugacy and disconjugacy, like for instance: when right disconjugacy yields disconjugacy or left disconjugacy. Here \(a<b\) are integers and \([a,b]\equiv \{a,a+1,...,b\}\).
