In the setting of the special Colombeau algebra \(\mathcal{G}\) on \(\mathbb{R}^d\), resp., \(\mathbb{R}^d\setminus\{0\}\), the authors study homogeneity properties of generalized functions. Some of the main results are as follows: Any scaling invariant Colombeau generalized function on \(\mathbb{R}^d\) is constant. As in the distributional setting, any homogeneous generalized function on \(\mathbb{R}^d\setminus\{0\}\) is tempered (admits a tempered representative). The only non-trivial homogeneous generalized functions on \(\mathbb{R}^d\) are homogeneous polynomials (in particular, the degree of homogeneity has to be an integer). The authors further study the interdependence of homogeneity and the Euler differential equation, the extension problem for homogeneous generalized functions from \(\mathbb{R}^d\setminus\{0\}\) to \(\mathbb{R}^d\), and the correlation between homogeneity in distributions and in \(\mathcal{G}\), examined by means of the new concept of weak homogeneity.
