A finite group \(G\) is called `rational' if all values of its irreducible complex characters are rational. The purpose of the paper under review is to prove the following Theorem: If \(p\) is a prime such that some rational finite group has a composition factor of order \(p\), then \(p\leq 11\). The proof is long and technical and depends on CFSG. If \(G\) is a minimal counterexample, then there is a prime \(l\geq 13\) such that \(G\) has a minimal normal subgroup \(V\) which is an elementary Abelian \(l\)-subgroup such that \(G/V\) is rational and \(V=C_G(V)\), and this setting has to be studied very carefully. The author expresses his hope that in the future he will be able to replace the ``11'' in the Theorem by ``5''.
