Let \(\underline{E}G\) be the classifying space for proper actions of a group \(G\). The Baum-Connes conjecture [\textit{P.\ Baum, A.\ Connes} and \textit{N. Higson}, Contemp. Math. 167, 241--291 (1994; Zbl 0830.46061)] identifies the \(K\)-theory of \(G^\ast_r(G)\), the reduced \(C^\ast\)-algebra of \(G\), with the equivariant \(K\)-homology of \(\underline{E}G\). The author obtains the equivariant \(K\)-homology of \(\underline{E}G\) for \(G= \text{SL}(3,\mathbb{Z})\) and \(G= \text{GL}(3,\mathbb{Z})\) from the computation of its Bredon homology. The results amount to the topological side of the Baum-Connes conjecture, \(K^G_i(\underline{E}G)\).
