For a fixed number \(k\) of variables \(t_1,\ldots,t_k\), isobaric polynomials \(P_n\in{\mathbb Z}[t_1,\dots,t_k]\) are polynomials which are homogeneous of degree \(n\) with respect to the grading defined by \(\text{ deg}(t_i)=i\). The weighted isobaric polynomials (WIP) \(P_{n,\omega}\) are distinguished by the property that their coefficients depend on a fixed vector \(\omega\in{\mathbb Z}^k\). The sequences of WIP's \(P_{\omega}= \{P_{n,\omega}\}_n\) form a free \(\mathbb Z\)-module and contain Schur polynomials determined by hook partitions \((n-r,1^r)\), generalized Fibonacci polynomials (GFP) \(\{F_n\}_n\) and generalized Lucas polynomials (GLP) \(\{G_n\}_n\). In the paper under review the authors characterize the sequences of WIP's which belong to the kernel of the linear operator \[ {\mathfrak T}_m=D_{11}-\sum_{j=1}^kt_jD_{2j}-mD_2,\,D_{ij}=\partial^2/\partial t_i\partial t_j. \] It is known that \({\mathfrak T}_2(F_n)=0\) and \({\mathfrak T}_1(G_n)=0\). The answer given in the paper is that only families \(P_{\omega}\) with weights \(\omega\) close enough to the weights of GFP and GLP satisfy \({\mathfrak T}_m=0\) for \(m=1\) and \(m=2\) and none for other \(m\)'s.
