    For a bounded subset \(H\) of a Banach space \(E\), the following quantities are considered: \[ \omega(H) = \inf\{\varepsilon > 0: H \subset K_\varepsilon + \varepsilon B_E \text{ and } K_\varepsilon \subset E \text{ is } w-\text{compact}\}; \] \[ \gamma(H) = \sup\left\{\left|\lim_n \lim_m f_m(x_n) - \lim_m \lim_n f_m(x_n) \right|: (f_m) \subset B_{E^*}, (x_n) \subset H \right\}, \] assuming the involved limits exist; \(ck(H)\) is the worst distance to \(E\) of sets of the weak-star cluster points in \(E^{**}\) of sequences from \(H\), and finally \(k(H)\) is the worst distance to \(E\) of the elements of weak-star closure of \(H\) in \(E^{**}\). All these quantities measure in different senses how far from weak compactness the properties of \(H\) are. It is proved that \[ ck(H) \leq k(H) \leq \gamma(H) \leq 2ck(H) \leq 2k(H) \leq 2 \omega(H). \] In particular, \(ck\), \(k\) and \(\gamma\) are equivalent. On the other hand, \(\omega\) is not equivalent to the rest of these quantities. An example is given that the constant 2 in \(k(H) \leq 2ck(H)\) cannot be improved. As application quantitative versions of Eberlein-Smulyan's, Gantmacher's and Grothendieck's theorems are given.
