The authors consider some (central) identities with Jordan derivations satisfied in semiprime rings. Let \(R\) be a semiprime ring. An additive \(g\colon R\to R\) is a generalized derivation if for some derivation \(d\) of \(R\) and for all \(x,y\in R\), \(g(xy)=g(x)y+xd(y)\); \(g\) is a generalized Jordan derivation if the last equality is assumed only when \(x=y\). The first main result assumes that \(n\) and \(m\) are fixed positive integers, that \(R\) has an identity element, that \(R\) is \((n+m)!\)-torsion free, and that for additive maps \(g\) and \(h\) of \(R\), \(g(x^{n+m})=g(x^n)x^m+x^nh(x^m)\) and concludes that \(g\) is a generalized derivation of \(R\) with associated derivation \(h\). For generalized Jordan derivations \(g\) and \(h\) of \(R\), fixed positive integers \(n\) and \(m\), and \(R\) \(2(n+m)!\)-torsion free, suppose that \(F(x)=g(x^n)x^m+x^mh(x^n)\) is central for all \(x\in R\). The authors prove that when \(R\) is a noncommutative prime ring then \(g\) and \(h\) are right or left multiplications. When \(g\) and \(h\) are Jordan derivations, they must be zero, and when, in addition \(R\) is semiprime then \(g\) and \(h\) map \(R\) into its center. Finally, when \(R\) is a noncommutative Banach algebra, when \(g\) and \(h\) are derivations, and when \(F(x)\) has central values, then each of these derivations sends \(R\) into its Jacobson radical.
