It is well-known that a smooth variety has a reduced (moreover smooth) arc space. But there are many examples that schemes are reduced and the corresponding arc spaces are not reduced. In this paper, the author proves that a plane curve over a subfield \(k\) of \(\mathbb{C}\) has a reduced arc space if and only if it is smooth over \(k\).
