In the absence of external loads, the author considers the equation of motion in a linear isotropic thermoelastic mixture of an elastic solid and a Newtonian fluid, in the Lord-Shulman [\textit{H. W. Lord} and \textit{Y. Shulman}, J. Mech. Phys. Solids 15, 299--309 (1967; Zbl 0156.22702)] and \textit{A. E. Green} and {K. A. Lindsay} [J. Elasticity 2, No. 1, 1--7 (1972; Zbl 0775.73063)] contexts. He proves that in the two-dimensional case there exist three dispersive coupled longitudinal waves and two dispersive coupled transverse waves. The reflection of these plane waves is studied at thermally insulated stress-free surface, and the reflection coefficients are computed and shown graphically with their angle of incidence. The numerical results for a particular model show that the phase speeds of all coupled waves increase with the increase in frequency, and the reflection coefficients of all reflected coupled waves are affected significantly by thermal disturbances in the material.
