The author considers the system of equations governing the flow of a barotropic reactive mixture of two compressible gases \(A\) and \(B\) undergoing a reversible chemical reaction \(A\rightleftharpoons B\), on the torus \({\mathbb T}^3\), for the density \(\rho=\rho_A+\rho_B\) , the velocity \(\vec{v}\), and the mass fraction \(Y_A\), given by the equations \[ \begin{align*}{\partial_t\rho+ \text{div}\ \rho\vec{v} &=0,\cr \partial_t(\rho \vec{v})+ \text{div}\ (\rho\vec{v}\otimes \vec{v})+\nabla p(\rho,Y_A,Y_B)-\text{div}(2\mu(\rho) D(\vec{v}))-\nabla(\nu(\rho)\text{div} \vec{v}) &=0,\cr \partial_t(\rho Y_A)+ \text{div}\ (\rho \vec{v}\ Y_A) + \text{div}{\mathcal F}_A(\rho,Y_A,Y_B)&=\rho\omega(\rho,Y_A,Y_B),\cr}\end{align*} \] with (possibly large) initial conditions \[ \left. (\rho,\vec v,Y_A)\right|_{t=0}=(\rho_0,\vec v_0,{Y_A}_0)\;\;\text{in}\;{\mathbb T}^3, \] where the density-dependent viscosity coefficients \(\mu\) and \(\nu\) obey the Bresch-Desjardins condition \(\nu=2\rho\mu'-2\mu\). Provided that the pressure \(p(\rho,Y_A,Y_B)\), the mass fluxes \({\mathcal F}_{A,B}(\rho,Y_A,Y_B)\) and the species production rate \(\omega(\rho,Y_A,Y_B)\) are submitted to suitable constraints, the existence of a weak solution to the previous system is proved.
