The authors aim to construct virtually smooth modular compactifications of spaces of maps from non-singular marked curves to a large class of GIT quotients. More explicitly, they construct moduli stacks that are open substacks in \(\mathcal{M}_{g,k}([W/\mathbf{G}],\beta)\)(moduli stack parametrizing families of tuples \(((C,p_{1},\ldots, p_{k}),P,u)\) with P being a principal \(\mathbf{G}\)-bundle on \(C\), \((C,p_{1},\ldots, p_{k})\) is a prestable \(k\)-pointed curve of genus \(g\), \(\mathbf{G}\) is a reductive complex algebraic group and \(W\) is a quasi-projective variety on which \(\mathbf{G}\) acts) of finite type, Deligne-Mumford, proper and having perfect obstruction theory that extends to that of Deligne-Mumford stack \(M_{g,k}(W//\mathbf{G},\beta)\) of maps from non-singular pointed curves to \(W//\mathbf{G}\). Using this construction, the authors also produce systems of numerical invariants on the cohomology of target varieties.
