This paper deals with the Auslander-Reiten Conjecture [\textit{M. Auslander} et al., Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 52, 69--74 (1975; Zbl 0337.16004)], which states that if \(R\) is an Artinian algebra and \(M\) a finitely-generated \(R\)-module such that \(\mathrm{Ext}_R^{>0}(M,M \oplus R)=0\), then \(M\) is projective. A previous result of \textit{T. Araya} on this conjecture [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 137, No. 6, 1941--1944 (2009; Zbl 1163.13015)] used the Auslander-Reiten duality theorem, which was known for Gorenstein local rings. The authors prove the Auslander-Reiten duality theorem for Cohen-Macaulay local rings that have canonical modules. Their other main theorem provides new information on the relationship between the Auslander-Reiten Conjecture and several related homological conjectures, including the Auslander condition, which states that for every finitely generated \(R\)-module \(M\) there exists a nonnegative integer \(b_M\) such that for every finitely-generated \(R\)-module \(N\) one has: if \(\mathrm{Ext}_R^{\gg 0}(M,N)=0\), then \(\mathrm{Ext}_R^{>b_M}(M,N)=0\). \textit{L. W. Christensen} and \textit{H. Holm} [Math. Z. 265, No. 1, 21--40 (2010; Zbl 1252.16008)] previously proved that the Auslander-Reiten Conjecture holds on rings satisfying the Auslander condition [\textit{L.W. Christensen} et al., Math. Z. 265, No. 1, 21--40 (2010; Zbl 1252.16008)]. The authors prove a more detailed set of implications relating these two conditions, which also links them to a generalized Auslander-Reiten condition that others have studied.
