The Hurwitz zeta function is defined as the series \(\zeta (s,a)=\sum _{n=0}^{\infty }\frac{1}{(n+a)^{s} } \) , where \(a>0\) . As a function of \(s\), \(\zeta (s,a)\) has a simple pole at \(s=1\). The Stieltjes constants \(\gamma _{n} (a)\) (in fact, functions of \(a\)) are defined through the Laurent series \(\zeta (s,a)=\frac{1}{s-1} +\sum _{n=0}^{\infty }\frac{(-1)^{n} \gamma _{n} (a)}{n!} \, (s-1)^{n} \). In this paper, the author shows several properties of \(\gamma _{n} (a)\) given as series representations. First, an addition formula, \(\gamma _{n} (a+b)=\gamma _{n} (a)+\sigma \) , where \(\sigma \) is a certain series involving the Stirling numbers \(s(m,\, n)\) of the first kind and higher derivatives of \(\zeta (s,a)\). Also, a series representation for \(\gamma _{n}^{\, (k)} (a)\), \(k\geq 1\), is given. Another special series representation is given for \(\gamma _{n} (a)\).
