First the authors give an overview on the representations of current groups \(G^X\), which are groups of continous maps \(X\mapsto G\) with pointwise multiplication such that \(X\) is a topolgical space equipped with a Borel probability measure \(m\), \(G\) is a locally compact group and certain integrability conditions with respect to \(m\) are satisfied. In particular they are interested in special representations which are characterized by the presence of almost invariant vectors. The authors suggest a method to construct special nonunitary representations of semisimple Lie groups by using representations of Iwasawa subgroups. Concretly, they deal with the group \(U(2, 2)\) and define nonunitary representations for Iwasawa subgroups \(P\) of \(U(2, 2)\) which are operator irreducible and space irreducible. Moreover, the authors are able to extend the special nonunitary representations for \(P\) to the whole group \(P(2, 2)\).
