For a normal affine (complex) variety \(X=\mathrm{Spec }A\), endowed with an effective action of an algebraic split torus \({\mathbb T}\simeq {\mathbb G}_m^k\), \textit{K. Altmann} and \textit{J. Hausen} [Math. Ann. 334, No. 3, 557--607 (2006; Zbl 1193.14060)] provide a GIT description of \(X\). The paper under review considers an additional action on \(X\) of a finite abelian group \(G\), assuming that this action commutes with the action of the given torus \({\mathbb T}\), and the main result determines the relation between the Altmann-Hausen presentation of \(X\) and that of the quotient \(X/\!/ G=\mathrm{Spec }A^G\). This relationship is obtained via an equivariant presentation, in the sense of Altmann and Hausen, of the affine variety \(X\) endowed now with an appropriate \(G\times {\mathbb T}\)-action. As an application, the author obtains natural Altmann-Hausen presentations of a family of threefolds introduced by \textit{M. Koras} and \textit{P. Russell} [J. Alg. Geom. 6, 671--695 (1997; Zbl 0882.14013)] as \({\mathbb G}_m\)-equivariant bi-cyclic covers of the affine space \({\mathbb A}^3\).
