The authors present results on the linearization and symmetries for a nonautonomous nonlinear partial difference equation belonging to the Boll classification of quad-graph equations on the lattice, namely on the so-called \({}_{t}H_{1}^{\varepsilon}\) equation, that is, \[ \begin{multlined} (x_{m, n}-x_{m+1, n})(x_{m, n+1}-x_{m+1, n+1})-\alpha_{2}\\ -\varepsilon^{2}\alpha_{2}\left(\mathcal{F}^{(+)}_{n}x_{m, n+1}x_{m+1, n+1}+\mathcal{F}^{(-)}_{n}x_{m, n}x_{m+1, n}\right)=0, \end{multlined} \] where \[ \mathcal{F}^{(\pm)}_{p}= \frac{1\pm (-1)^{p}}{2} \] and \(\alpha_{1}, \alpha_{2}\) and \(\varepsilon\) are constants. In particular, they present its explicit linearization obtained by reducing this equation to a system of autonomous partial difference equations that can be solved explicitly. Further, they also show that the Lax pair of this equation is fake, i.e., under a gauge transformation, the spectral problems turns out to be independent of the spectral parameter and the field. Finally, they construct its three-point generalized symmetries, which reflect the linearizability of the discrete equation by depending on arbitrary functions of a continuous variable and on the discrete lattice index.
