The deltoid curve is a degree 4 algebraic plane curve in the form of a hellenic delta \(\Delta\) and bounding an open set containing \(0\), which is called the deltoid domain. The authors present a refined study of the hypergroup property for the family of orthogonal polynomials associated with the deltoid curve in connection with an elegant approach of \textit{E. A. Carlen} et al. [Adv. Math. 226, No. 4, 3426--3466 (2011; Zbl 1228.31002)].
