Summary: We generalize a map by \textit{S. Mason} [J. Algebr. Comb. 29, No. 3, 295--313 (2009; Zbl 1210.05175)] regarding two combinatorial models for key polynomials, in a way that accounts for the major index. Furthermore we define a similar variant of this map, that regards alternative models for the modified Macdonald polynomials at \(t=0\), and thus partially answers a question by \textit{J. Haglund} [The \(q,t\)-Catalan numbers and the space of diagonal harmonics. With an appendix on the combinatorics of Macdonald polynomials. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2008; Zbl 1142.05074)]. These maps together imply a certain uniqueness property regarding inversion-and coinversion-free fillings. These uniqueness properties allow us to generalize the notion of charge to a non-symmetric setting, thus answering a question by \textit{A. Lascoux} [``Polynomials'' (2013), \url{http://phalanstere.univ-mlv.fr/~al/}] and the analogous question in the symmetric setting proves a conjecture by \textit{K. Nelson} [A new Interpretation of the cocharge statistic. Philadelphia, PA: University of Pennsylvania (M.s Thesis) (2005)].
