The notion of convergence in measure and convergence almost everywhere play a fundamental role in the theory of Banach ideal spaces (also called Köthe spaces). Recently, two kinds of convergence in Banach lattices, which can be viewed as generalizations of these above, have been introduced and studied. Recall that a net \(\left( x_{\alpha }\right) _{\alpha \in A}\) in a vector lattice \(X\) is order convergent to \(x\in X\) (briefly \( x_{\alpha }\overset{o}{\rightarrow }x\)) if there is a net \(\left( z_{\beta }\right) _{\beta \in B}\) in \(X\) such that \(z_{\beta }\downarrow 0\), and for every \(\beta \in B\), there exists \(\alpha _{0}\in A\) such that \(\left| x_{\alpha }-x\right| \leq z_{\beta }\) for \(\alpha \geq \alpha _{0}\). A~net \(\left( x_{\alpha }\right) _{\alpha \in A}\) in a vector lattice \(X\) is unbounded order convergent to \(x\in X\) (briefly \(x_{\alpha } \overset {uo}{\rightarrow }x\)) if \(\left| x_{\alpha }-x\right| \wedge u \overset{o}{\rightarrow }0\) for all \(u\in X_{+}\). A~net \(\left( x_{\alpha }\right) _{\alpha \in A}\) in a Banach lattice \(X\) is unbounded norm convergent to \(x\in X\) (briefly \(x_{\alpha }\overset{un}{\rightarrow }x\)) if \(\left\| \left| x_{\alpha }-x\right| \wedge u\right\| \rightarrow 0\) for all \(u\in X_{+}\). Unbounded order convergence (\(uo\)-convergence) has been studied in several previous papers, where it has been shown, among other things, that it can be viewed as a generalization of almost everywhere convergence in Köthe spaces to general vector lattices. The authors of the present paper deal with unbounded norm convergence (\(un\)-convergence) in Banach lattices. In Section 2, they study relationships between \(un\)-convergence and \(uo\)-convergence or norm convergence. The order continuity is an important property in this consideration. In Section 3, the authors show that, if a net \(x_{\alpha } \overset{un}{\rightarrow }0\) in a Banach lattice \(X\), then there exists an increasing sequence of indices \(\left( \alpha _{k}\right) \) and a disjoint sequence \(\left( d_{k}\right) \) in \(X\) such that \(\left\| x_{\alpha _{k}}-d_{k}\right\| \rightarrow 0\). From the results of Section 4 it follows that \(un\)-convergence can be viewed as a generalization of convergence in measure in Köthe spaces to general Banach lattices. In Section 5, the authors prove that \(un\)-convergence coincides with \(uo\)-convergence if and only if the Banach lattice \(X\) is order continuous and atomic. In Section 6, the relations between \(un\)-convergence and weak convergence are studied. Finally, in Section 7, the authors show that \(un \)-convergence is given by a topology.
