Let \(\pi^{\infty}_{\mu}\), \(\mu\in \mathbb{C}\) be a smooth representation of \(G= \mathrm{SO}_0(n,1), \mathrm{SU}(n,1),\mathrm{Sp}(n,1)\) induced from a character of a parabolic subgroup. In the paper under review for any \(m\geq 0\) a \(G\)-interwining differential operator of degree \(2m\) \[ D_{\alpha,\beta,m}: \pi^{\infty}_{\alpha}\otimes \pi^{\infty}_{\beta} \rightarrow \pi^{\infty}_{\alpha+\beta+2m} \] is constructed. In the case \(0<\alpha,\beta<\rho\), \(\alpha+\beta+2m<\rho\) this operator is bounded. As a corollary the author proves that in the cases \(G= \mathrm{SU}(n,1),\mathrm{Sp}(n,1)\) when \(\pi_{\alpha},\pi_{\beta}\) are complementary series representations with \(0<\alpha,\beta<\rho\) and \(2<\alpha,\beta<\rho\), respectively, then \(\pi_{\alpha+\beta}\) appeares discretely in \(\pi_{\alpha}\otimes \pi_{\beta}\) if \(\alpha+\beta < n\) in the case \(\mathbb{C}\) and if \(\alpha+\beta<2n-1\) in the case \(\mathbb{H}\).
