The authors prove an analogue of a theorem of \textit{A. Pollington} and \textit{S. L. Velani} [Sel. Math., New Ser. 11, No. 2, 297--307 (2005; Zbl 1084.11039)] concerning an upper bound on the Hausdorff dimension of certain subsets of the set of very well intrinsically approximable points on a quadratic hypersurface. Intrinsic approximation on the zero set \(Z_{p}\) of a quadratic polynomial \(P\) in \(d\) variables means that points \(\underline{x}\in Z_{p}= Z\) are approximated by rational points \(\frac{P}{q}\in \mathbb{Q}^{d}\bigcap Z_{p}.\) Define \(W_{c,Z}: = \{\underline{x}\in Z : w_{Z}(\underline{x})> c\}\) for \(c > 1\), where \(w_{Z}(\underline{x})\) is the corresponding irrationality exponent on \(Z\). The set of very well intrinsically approximable points on \(Z\) is given as the union of all \(W_{c,Z}\) for \(c>1\). This set is a Lebesgue null set and the Hausdorff dimension of \(W_{c,Z}\) is \(\frac{d-1}{c}\). In the present article, the authors consider so-called ``absolutely friendly'' measures \(\mu\). It is known that \(\mu-\) almost all points in the support of \(\mu\) are not very well approximable and Pollington and Velani established an upper bound for the corresponding Hausdorff dimension. In the present article this is extended to intrinsic approximation an quadratic hypersufaces.
