Let $G$ be a finite abelian group of size $v$ and $D \subset G$ be a set of size $k$. The set $D$ is called $(v,k,\lambda)$ difference set if any nonzero $x\in G$ is represented as the difference of two elements of $D$ in exactly $\lambda$ times. In the paper under review, the authors are interested in so-called Menon-Hadamard difference sets, i.e., difference sets with parameters $(4m^2, 2m^2 - m, m^2-m)$, where $m$ is a positive integer. It is well-known that these sets correspond to a regular Hadamard matrix of order $4m^2$. The problem is to construct such difference sets for any $m$. The authors give a good survey about this question. The construction with $m=4q^4$, where $q$ is an odd prime power was given by \textit{Y. Q. Chen} [Finite Fields Appl. 3, No. 3, 234--256 (1997; Zbl 0907.05013)]. The authors give a more flexible construction with another set of automorphisms.
