For the doubling map \(T_2(x)=2x\) mod 1 on \([0,1)\), \textit{P. Glendinning} and \textit{N. Sidorov} [Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 35, No. 4, 1208--1228 (2015; Zbl 1358.37031)] studied when the Hausdorff dimension of the survivor set with hole \((a,b)\) is positive if \(0 < a< 1/2 < b <1\). For \(k \in \{3,4,5, \dots \}\), the paper here considers the interval map \(T_k(x)=kx\) mod 1 on \([0,1)\) with a hole \((a,b)\) where \(0 \le a < b \le 1\). The author shows for certain holes \((a,b)\) in a parameter set \(R_1\) that the Hausdorff dimension of the survivor set is positive. Furthermore, for all other holes \((a,b)\) (these are in a parameter set \(R_2\)), the author finds necessary and sufficient conditions for the Hausdorff dimension of the survivor set to be positive.
