Let \(\Omega\) denote a bounded planar region without assuming finite connectivity nor boundary regularity. Let \(H^{\infty}(\Omega)\) be the space of bounded analytic functions on \(\Omega\). Consider the Banach space \[X=A^{p}(\Omega,w\hspace{.1em}da) \text{ or } H^{p}(\Omega,\omega).\] For \(f\in H^{\infty}(\Omega)\), the multiplication operator (or analytic Toeplitz operator) is defined as \(T_{f}h=fh\), \(h\in X\). \textit{J. A. Deddens} and \textit{T. K. Wong} raised several questions about the commutant of an analytic Toeplitz operator [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 184, 261--273 (1974; Zbl 0273.47017)]. Since then, several papers have appeared which focus on these questions. C. Cowen has made important achievements on this topic [\textit{C. C. Cowen}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 239, 1--31 (1978; Zbl 0391.47014)]. The paper under review is an extension of Cowen's paper to the Banach space \(X\). It contains many interesting conclusions and related applications.
