Let \(f : M \rightarrow M\) be a \(C^{1+\varepsilon}\) diffeomorphism on a smooth surface \(M\), and let \(\Lambda\subset M\) be a basic set of \(f\). Let \(\mathcal{M}\) denote the set of \(f\)-invariant Borel probability measures on \(\Lambda\). The authors define the potential \(\Phi_L : \Lambda\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{2}\). In this paper the authors define Lyapunov exponents \(\mathcal{R}_L(f) = \mathcal{R}_L(f,\Phi_L) = \{rv(\mu) : \mu \in \mathcal{M}\}\). The entropy of \(\mathcal{R}_L(f)\) is defined by \(\mathcal{H}_f(w)= \sup\{h_{\mu}(f): rv(\mu) = w\}\), where \(h_{\mu}(f)\) denotes the measure-theoretic entropy of \(\mu\). They deal with hyperbolic diffeomorphisms \(f\) on surfaces (henceforth called horseshoe maps) and study the regularity of the entropy spectrum \(\mathcal{H}_f\) on set of Lyapunov exponents \(\mathcal{R}_L(f)\). The authors construct a \(C^2\)-horseshoe map \(f\) with a discontinuous entropy spectrum under some sufficient conditions. Under given conditions, they prove that: 1) The set \(\mathcal{R}_L(f)\) has non-empty interior and countably many extreme points of which all but one are isolated; 2) The entropy function \(w\mapsto \mathcal{H}_f(w)\) is discontinuous at the non-isolated extreme point. Then it is proved that there exists a \(C^2\)-horseshoe map \(f\) with basic set \(\Lambda\) such that \(f\mid_{\Lambda}\) is topologically conjugate to the shift map \(\sigma: \Sigma_{3}^{\pm}\rightarrow \Sigma_{3}^{\pm}\).
