Let \(G\) be the group of real points of a connected reductive algebraic group defined over \({\mathbb R}\) and \(K\subset G\) a maximal compact subgroup with Lie algebras \({\mathfrak g}\) and \({\mathfrak k}\) respectively. Let \({\mathfrak g}={\mathfrak k}\oplus{\mathfrak p}\) be the corresponding Cartan decomposition with \(\theta\) as the associated Cartan involution. The adjoint action of \(K\) on \({\mathfrak p}\) defines a semidirect product \(G_0:=K\ltimes{\mathfrak p}\), known as the Cartan motion group of \(G\). Write \(\widehat{G_0}\) for the unitary dual of \(G_0\) and \(\widetilde{G}\) for the tempered dual of \(G\). A Mackey parameter \(\delta=(\chi,\mu)\) is given by an element \(\chi\in{\mathfrak p}^*\) and an irreducible representation \(\mu\) of the stabilizer of \(\chi\) in the coadjoint action of \(K\) on \({\mathfrak p}^*\). From a Mackey parameter, it is possible, following \textit{A. Afgoustidis} [Camb. J. Math. 9, No. 3, 551--575 (2021; Zbl 1498.22013)], to build an irreducible tempered representation of \(G\) and establish a bijection \({\mathcal M}:\widetilde{G}\xrightarrow{\simeq}\widehat{G_0}\), known as the Mackey-Higson bijection. One of the main results in the paper under review is to study topological properties of this bijection, namely the authors address the question of continuity of the Mackey-Higson bijection.
