    After a nice exposition of the representation theory of (locally) compact quantum groups, this paper extends the known theory surrounding property (T) in several significant ways. In particular, it is shown that: {\parindent=0.5cm \begin{itemize}\item[1.] A locally compact quantum group has property (T) if and only if it has Kazdan pairs of any type. \item[2.] A morphism of locally compact quantum groups that has dense range transfers property (T) from the domain group to the range group ({i.e.}, if \(m: G \rightarrow H\) has dense range in an appropriate sense and \(G\) has property (T), then \(H\) has property (T).) \item[3.] In the case of separable discrete unimodular quantum groups satisfying a rank condition, the following are equivalent: {\parindent=1.1cm \begin{itemize}\item[a.] property (T), \item[b.] property (T)\(^{1,1}\), \item[c.] the ergodic representations are a nowhere dense closed subset of the unitary representations, \item[d.] for every von Neumann algebra with a faithful normal state, every weakly mixing action preserving this state is strongly ergodic. \end{itemize}}\end{itemize}}
