The boundary spectrum in a Banach algebra was introduced by \textit{S. Mouton} [Bull. Aust. Math. Soc. 74, No. 2, 239--246 (2006; Zbl 1113.46044)] as following: Let \(A\) be a Banach algebra and \(S\) be the set of noninvertible elements in \(A\), the boundary spectrum of \(a\in A\) is the set \(\{\lambda \in \mathbb{C}: \lambda- a\in \partial S\}\), where \(\partial S\) is the usual topological boundary of \(S\). On the other hand, nonempty sets in a Banach algebra called a regularity, lower semiregularity and upper semiregularity were introduced in [\textit{V. Müller}, Spectral theory of linear operators and spectral systems in Banach algebras. 2nd ed. Basel: Birkhäuser (2007; Zbl 1208.47001)]. It was shown by Müller that the spectrum \(\sigma_R\) has interesting properties when the subset \(R\) of \(A\) is a regularity or a semiregularity. The paper under review provides examples that there are (complex) Banach algebras where the boundary spectrum is generated by a set \(R\), namely \(R= A\setminus \partial A^{-1}\), which is not an upper semiregularity nor a lower semiregularity.
