This paper defines and gives several basic results concerning the Reidemeister number for Nielsen coincidence theory of more than 2 maps. This theory gives a homotopy-invariant approach to the coincidence set of multiple maps: \[ \textrm{Coin}(f_1,\dots,f_n) = \{ x \mid f_1(x)=\dots=f_n(x) \} \] This paper defines the Reidemeister number in the setting of multiple maps, which is an important step in the continuing development of the multiple-maps Nielsen theory. The authors describe a new method for computing the Reidemeister number on tori and nilmanifolds, and this method immediately implies a computation of the Nielsen number for multiple maps when the codomain is a nilmanifold. They also show several relationships between the Reidemeister numbers of multiple maps and the Reidemeister number of any two of the given maps.
