Authors formulate a plasticity model exploiting a bounding surface in stress space that is general enough to accomodate a wide range of hardening behaviours. It is shown that a connection can be made with a strain space analogue, provided respective model parameters are suitably interchanged. Special cases of hardening, including Prager-type hardening, are discussed. The results are correlated with experimental evidence. This is a comprehensive and detailed paper that should be of interest to research engineers interested in recent developments in plasticity theory.
