An isovariant map \(f: X\to Y\), where \(G\) a compact group, is a \(G\)-map that preserves isotropy groups. The authors introduce the notion of isovariant fibrant space, which is a version of fibrant space in the category \(Isov\text{-}\mathcal{M}\) of metrizable \(G\)-spaces and isovariant maps. More precisely, the authors define the notions of isovariant fibration, isovariant homotopy, and using those notions together with the notion of an isovariant absolute (neighborhood) extensor which was earlier introduced by \textit{S. M. Ageev} [Sb. Math. 203, No. 6, 769--797 (2012; Zbl 1257.54038); translation from Mat. Sb. 203, No. 6, 3--34 (2012)], they define the notion of isovariant SSDR map. An isovariant SSDR map is a version of SSDR map in the category \(Isov\text{-}\mathcal{M}\), where the notion of SSDR map was introduced by \textit{F. Cathy} [Lect. Notes Math. 870, 215--238 (1981; Zbl 0473.55011)] to define a strong shape category for metrizable compact spaces. The main results of the paper are 1) to show that the class of all isovariant SSDR maps coincides with the class of all \(G\)-SSDR maps; 2) using 1), to show that every compact \(G\)-space admits an isovariant fibrant extension, namely, there exists a closed \(G\)-embedding \(s: E\hookrightarrow \hat{E}\) such that \(s\) is an isovariant SSDR map and \(\hat{E}\) is an isovariant fibrant space.
