Let \(X\) be a projective variety, \(L\) an ample line bundle on \(X\) and \(x \in X\). The Seshadri constant of \(L\) at \(x\) is defined as, \(\epsilon(L, x) := \inf \frac{ L \cdot C }{\mathrm{mult}_x(C)}\) , where the infimum is taken over all irreducible reduced curves \(C\) in \(X\) passing through \(x\). In this article the author studies a Seshadri constant at a general point on a rational surface whose anticanonical linear system contains a pencil. He gives an explicit formula for a Seshadri constant on a rational surface \(X\) with \(\dim| -K_X | \geq 1\) and uses the result to determine which log Del Pezzo surfaces of degree 4 through 9 have large Seshadri constants. This article contains many pictures that help visualize the calculations.
