The main results in this paper concern generalizations of derivations acting on triangular algebras. Let \(R\) be a 2-torsion free commutative ring with identity element, \(A\) and \(B\) unital \(R\)-algebras with no nontrivial idempotents, and \(M\) an \((A,B)\)-bimodule that is faithful for each ring. Then \(T\) is a triangular \(R\)-algebra if it is isomorphic to a (formal) set of \(2\times 2\) upper triangular matrices with diagonal \(A\oplus B\) and upper right entries from \(M\) using the usual matrix addition and multiplication. Let \(\alpha,\beta\in\Aut_R(T)\) and \(d\in\text{End}_R(T)\). The first main result shows the equivalence of: \(d\) is a Jordan \((\alpha,\beta)\)-derivation of \(T\); \(d\) is a Jordan triple \((\alpha,\beta)\)-derivation of \(T\); \(d\) is an \((\alpha,\beta)\)-derivation of \(T\). The authors use this to show the same equivalence for generalized (Jordan, Jordan triple) \((\alpha,\beta)\)-derivations of \(T\), and for nest algebras.
