Let \(0\leq \gamma\leq 1\) and consider the set \[N_{\gamma}=\{n\in\mathbb N: n=[m^{1/\gamma}]\;\text{ for some }\; m\in\mathbb N\}.\] \textit{I. I. Piatetski-Shapiro} [Mat. Sb., Nov. Ser. 33(75), 559--566 (1953; Zbl 0053.02702)] proved that if \(\gamma\geq 11/12\) then this set contains infinitely many primes. Several authors extended this range. \textit{I. I. Piatetski-Shapiro} [Mat. Sb., Nov. Ser. 30(72), 105--120 (1952; Zbl 0047.28001)] considered also the solubility of \[|p_1^c+\ldots+p_s^c-N|\leq (\log N)^{-1}\] in Piatetski-Shapiro primes, that is in primes in the set \(N_{\gamma}\), where \(\varepsilon\geq 0\), \(c\geq 1\) is not an integer and \(N\) is a large real number. Denote by \(H(c)\) the least integer \(s\) such that the above inequality has solutions for sufficiently large \(N\). Several upper bounds were given for \(H(c)\). Extending earlier results the authors prove:\par If \(\gamma\leq 1\leq c\) and \(\frac{269}{40}(c-1)+\frac{145}{8}(1-\gamma)\leq 1\) the for sufficiently large \(N\) the inequality \[|p_1^c+p_2^c+p_s^c-N|\leq (\log N)^{-1}\] has solutions in \(p_1,p_2,p_3\in N_{\gamma}\). Improvements are given also for \(s=2\) and \(s=4\).
