A characterization of extriangulated categories with triangulated structure

From MaRDI portal

This paper provides a clear and precise characterization of extriangulated categories that admit a triangulated structure. The authors establish that such a structure exists precisely when, for every object \(X\) in the extriangulated category, the morphism \(0 \to X\) is a deflation and \(X \to 0\) is an inflation. This characterization not only offers a deeper conceptual understanding but also leads to a constructive proof of a classical result: that the stable category of a Frobenius extriangulated category with \(\mathrm{proj}(\mathcal{C}) = 0\) is triangulated.
