A graphical calculus for classical and quantum microformal morphisms
\textit{T. Th. Voronov} [J. Geom. Phys. 111, 94--110 (2017; Zbl 1354.58007)] introduced the notion of microformal or thick morphisms, which generalizes the notion of smooth maps between manifolds, and used to construct \(L_{\infty}\)-morphisms for functions on homotopy Poisson and homotopy Schouten manifolds. Pullbacks by thick morphisms are defined using an equation of the fixed point type, which can be solved by iterations, failing to give a closed from for the full power series expansion of the pullback. Compositions and coordinate transformations of thick morphism generating functions are defined by the same equation as pullbacks so that they are also formal, suffering from the same issues. This paper gives the full solutions for pullbacks, compositions and coordiante transformations as expansions over a class of bipartite trees. The resulting calculational process is called the \textit{graphical calculus for thick morphisms}.\N\NThe author's graphical calculus is heavily inspired by a graphical calculus of Cattaneo, Dberin and Felder (CDF) [\textit{A. S. Cattaneo} et al., Commun. Math. Phys. 253, No. 3, 645--674 (2005; Zbl 1072.58008); Int. J. Math. Math. Sci. 2010, Article ID 643605, 36 p. (2010; Zbl 1214.53062)]]. CDF based their graphical calculus on a standard approach in numerical analysis to the study of order condtions of Runge-Kutta methods.\N\N\textit{Th. Th. Voronov} [Russ. Math. Surv. 71, No. 4, 784--786 (2016; Zbl 1362.58015); translation from Usp. Mat. Nauk 71, No. 4, 187--188 (2016); Proc. Steklov Inst. Math. 302, 88--129 (2018; Zbl 1430.58003); translation from Tr. Mat. Inst. Steklova 302, 98--142 (2018)] introduced the notion of quantum thick morphisms, which are exactly the quantum analogue of thick morphisms \ The category of classical thick morphisms is the \(\hslash\rightarrow 0\) limit of the category of quantum thick morphisms, which is defined as the opposite category of the category with morphisms given by a certain type of Fourier integral operators. Each quantum thick morphism also has a quantum generating function, and as for the classical case, pullbacks, compositions and coordinate transformations are defined in terms of this generating function formally. This paper again has closed forms for the resulting formal series, which is achieved by using a graphical calculus.
