A note on drop property of unbounded sets
Let C be a non-void closed convex subset of a real Banach space X. Let \(x_ 0\in X\setminus C\). The drop \(D(x_ 0;C)\) defined by \(x_ 0\) and C is the convex hull \(conv(\{x_ 0\},C)\) of \(\{x_ 0\}\) and C. C has the drop property if, whenever A is a non-void closed subset of X disjoint with C, there exists \(a\in A\) such that \(D(x_ 0;C)\cap A=\{a\}.\) It is proved that every Banach space X with a non-void closed convex unbounded subset \(C\neq X\) with the drop property is reflexive. This answers a question raised by \textit{D. Kutzarova} and \textit{S. Rolewicz} in ``On drop property for convex sets [Arch. Math. 56, No.5, 501-511 (1991; Zbl 0694.46015)].
