A topological version of iterated function systems

The author extends the notion of an iterated function system (IFS) defined on a complete metric space to a topological iterated function system (TIFS) defined on a Hausdorff topological space. It is proved that the TIFS has a unique attractor and there exists a continuous canonical projection from the shift space associated with the TIFS on the attractor as in the classical case. At the end an example of an attractor of a TIFS which is not an attractor of an IFS is given.
