A unique range set for meromorphic functions with 11 elements

From MaRDI portal

For a non-constant meromorphic function \(f\) and a set \(S\subset \widehat{\mathbb{C}}\) we define \[ E_f(S)= \bigcup_{a\in S} \bigl\{(z,p)\in \widehat{\mathbb{C}}\times \mathbb{N}\mid f(z)=a\text{ with multiplicity }p\bigr\}. \] A set \(S\subset \widehat{\mathbb{C}}\) is called a unique range set for meromorphic functions (URSM) if for any pair of non-constant meromorphic functions \(f\) and \(g\) the condition \(E_f(S)= E_g(S)\) implies \(f=g\). We show that there exists a URSM with 11 elements. For the proof we generalize an estimate of Yi and Mues/Reinders on meromorphic functions sharing one value.
