In this Addendum to the article reviewed above [\textit{T. G. Faticoni}, J. Algebra 314, No. 2, 978-1008 (2007; Zbl 1132.20032)] the author shows that a problem in the direct sum decompositions of torsion-free finite rank groups implies several important problems of number theory.
