Binary quadratic forms: modern developments

From MaRDI portal

The article begins with a brief history of the arithmetic of binary quadratic forms starting with Archimedes' cattle problem. After a few words on Euler, Lagrange and Gauss he explains the work of Poincaré in more detail. Then, he presents Bhargava's cubes and finally his own contributions to a geometric interpretation using çarks (see [\textit{A. M. Uludağ} et al., J. Théor. Nombres Bordx. 29, No. 2, 445--469 (2017; Zbl 1420.11096); \textit{A. Zeytin}, Publ. Math. Debr. 89, No. 1--2, 203--221 (2016; Zbl 1389.11094)]).\N\NFor the entire collection see [Zbl 1557.32001].
