Comparability for ideals of regular rings.
Let \(R\) be a von Neumann regular ring, and \(I\) an ideal of \(R\). \(R\) is said to satisfy the comparability if for any \(x,y\in R\), either \(xR\leq yR\) or \(yR\leq xR\). In this paper the author obtains some necessary and sufficient conditions under which the ideals of \(R\) possess comparability structure, and proves that every square matrix over ideals satisfying general comparability admits a diagonal reduction by quasi-invertible matrices, where \(I\) satisfying general comparability means that for any \(x,y\in R\), there exists a central idempotent \(e\) such that \(exR\leq eyR\) and \((1-e)yR\leq(1-e)xR\).
