Differential fields

From MaRDI portal

These lecture notes provide a deep and essential treatment of differential algebra and model theory of differentially closed fields in characteristic 0. The starting points are the classical results of quantifier elimination and \(\omega\)-stability for these structures. But independence (non-forking) in this framework is also discussed, and some related dimension notions (\(\delta\)-degree, \(U\)-rank, Morley rank) are described and compared. Hrushovski's analysis of strongly minimal sets of \(\delta\)-degree 1 is treated as well. Other relevant matters related to the Mordell-Lang conjecture and its solution via methods of differential algebra -- such as the Buium-Manin homomorphism and Manin's Kernel Theorem -- are also proposed. As already said, the paper is a full and rich reference for those acquainted with this area.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0980.00023].
